Pennies for Patients
Our school, Kilby Elementary, is participating in "The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Pennies for Patients" program.
Pennies for Patients is a community service project dedicated to teaching students how to help others! Our school is holding a 3 week coin drive to help local blood cancer patients. Blood cancer is a disease that occurs inside your blood and prevents it from functioning properly.
Since leukemia, a type of blood cancer, represents 26% of all cancers occurring among children younger than age 20, the educational community can make a direct impact in raising awareness about blood cancers and helping those affected by them.
Our Students are collecting and donating pennies (and all types of spare change) beginning February 2, 2009 and ending February 19, 2009. Our goal is to raise $400.00. Please help by donating any amount you can.
